Mark asks…

Nas tattoo on arm.. the words?

anyone know whats on nas arm it looks like a verse or something

The Expert answers:

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil; For you are with me…I will dwell the house of the lord.
-Psalm 23:4

Lisa asks…

Laser tattoo removal question: words in black ink punched DEEP into the skin with a dip-in-ink pen. (details)?

I have a tattoo on my arm. Words in black ink, punched DEEP into the skin with one of those types of pens that you dip into ink. The black ink used is the black ink that is sold for use with those types of pens. This tattoo has been with me for more than 20 years. Covers a 3″x4″ area, and is awful. I want it off.

Trouble is, I tried the acid crap that is sold to suckers like me for home tattoo removal. I tried it three times as per instructions. Tattoo hasn’t faded any, but now I have some scar tissue over the tattooed area.

Question is, does it sound like laser tattoo removal would work for this situation? I don’t have much money, and cannot really afford to waste any. (for anyone who may ask, it is not a gang tattoo, so no free programs are going to take me).

The Expert answers:

Laser removal probably would work but it would take several expensive sessions to fully remove a deep tattoo in black ink. A cheaper alternative would be to “hide” the tattoo under a better new tattoo that you do like. A good tattoo artist can cover up almost anything. It would also hide the scar tissue that would be much more noticeable if you did use laser removal.

James asks…

If you had to tattoo yourself a word on your arm, what would it be?

If you had to tattoo yourself a word on your arm, what would it be?

Also, what person would you put as a tattoo on that same arm?

Also, what material thing would you tattoo?

The Expert answers:

I have a Tattoo on The back of my Left arm,It says

“We Belong To the Sea”

No i Still Regret having a Tattoo So No i don’t want Any

Susan asks…

How big should I get this tattoo on my arm? the word Sacrifice in edwardian script?

I want it on the upper inner part of my arm, not right on top of the bicep but on the inside. Should i have it span all the way from the elbow to arm pit or what?

The Expert answers:

Yes, I think your plan to have it span the whole inner arm is best.

Richard asks…

Whats a positive word i can get as a tattoo?

I want a positve word tattooed on my arm, so i can look at it everyday for inspiration and as a constant reminder to be happy and calm. any ideas?

The Expert answers:

I have “serenity” on my ankle. It means “the state or quality of being serene, calm, or tranquil; sereneness.” -dictionary.com.
The word has meaning to me because the Christian Serenity Prayer helped my cousin and I to get past her father’s death. Also, my father is in Alcoholics Anonymous, and that prayer is cited frequently by its members.
The best word to choose would be one that has meaning to you, much like mine has to me. Often, when people see a tattoo, they will ask what it means or what significance it has to you.
Also, choosing the font you desire is a big deal too. Remember that this will be on your body fro the rest of your life and can’t be changed.
Good luck! : )

Maria asks…

Cool lower arm tattoo ideas?

So, I used to cut my arms a lot when I was a teenager, and I’ve recently overcome my depression. I still have the scars on my arms though, and I would really like to get a tattoo incorporating the cuts in some way. I want it to be something about overcoming the temptations of the world and being strong in myself.

I was thinking maybe about doing something where theres a word over each cut? I have six on one arm and four on the other, but I don’t really know what words to use?

Thankyou to anyone who answers (:

The Expert answers:

Honestly being an ex cutter myself and getting my sleeve over my scars I wouldn’t recommend it.
People are ass holes when it comes to cutting and are constantly commenting on it.
Plus, if they were deep cuts they need 2-5 years (or until they are soft and no longer get all purply in the cold) Which sucks haha. I have a huge one underneith my forarm piece and people are always all, “What happened oh my gosh! I’m an idiot!)

Or you could do something cool like get a giant traditional rose with a straight razor budding out of it with like, “Move Forward” above it or something.. That’d be cool.

Donald asks…

cool tattoo idea?

I will be getting this tattoo when I become a firefighter. I already have one that has a dragon around a cross and that goes from my shoulder to my bottom bicep saying only the strong survive that is visible through some not all t-shirts. Anyway, here is my idea

A firefighter holding a baby crying, the firefighter has a rough look (from the fire) and two angels one on the left side and the other on the right looking over his shoulder and down at the baby, and underneath the drawing it will have the word “Believe” probably in cursive. The tattoo will be black and gray shading and not too big, like a 4 by 5 probably under my neck and covered with a tshirt. That will be only my second tattoo and probably my last one. Any comments are appreciated!!!!!
thanks for the advice heather!!!!! I appreciate it…..I will maybe then wait until I save my first life! lol dont want to be ridiculed too much

The Expert answers:

I think it’s a cool idea. However, I would think that as a rookie firefighter, you will be subject to some ribbing from the veterens…they may think that you have to earn an image like that…What I mean is that unless you are memorializing someone in particular, it may look like you are making yourself out to be a hero already, when you’ve only just started the job. No offense meant at all, firefighters are awesome, and what do I know, you may already have significant experience, but I’m just playing devil’s advocate and showing you potential backlash.

Mary asks…

Does this sound like a cool tattoo idea?

SO, im about to turn 18 soon and i want a tatoo. i understand the “consequences” and the aging and the getting a good job part. Iv’e thought about it for a LONG time. i know it will hurt and the location will be on my inner wrist.

A lot of people tell me that i light up their life in some way so i was thinking of the word ” illuminate” on the inside of my wrist. Strangely enough it happens to be the name of the album of one of my favorite bands. Does that sound like a cute idea? ?Not that these opinions will sway my decision i’m just sort of curious 😛

The Expert answers:

I wouldnt if I was you, you need it in a place that you can cover even on warm days, and to have a word like that will p!ss you off when you are older honest it will, have a look at some designs and stuff before you do it hun

Sharon asks…

i need some tattoo ideas?

im a chick and i wanna get a tattoo on my lower stomache to the side like by my hip and i want to put like a word or something in italian and cool writing. i just want one word because a whole phrase would be to big, but i can’t think of any cool words. all i got is faith and beauty. but i need something better.

The Expert answers:

Love – Amore.

Life – Vita.

Hope – Speranza.

Chris asks…

What words would be cool for a tattoo along my collarbone?

I saw one phrase I kind of liked > “There is nothing so stable as change.”
but I’m looking for something I like more
I would love to hear your ideas & I will pick best answer :)
yes i am fully aware that it will be there forever and needs to be something i really want, thanks. i just want some actual ideas, that’s why i’m looking for something i really want.

The Expert answers:

You really need to pick something that means something to you. It shouldn’t just be a pointless phrase that you like at the moment, considering it is going to be a fairly large tattoo.

What about a song title or part of a song that you have always loved, or that really connects to/with you?

Richard asks…

i need a little tattoo design help?

so im a big fan of black and gray tattoos thats all i like, my favorite types of designs are the ones with alot of shadowing and feathering, i really like like skulls and grim reaper type stuff in the designs but i dont want them to seem to demonic because thats not the kind of person i am. also i would like to be able to throw in a little memorial to my best friend who passed a while back it would just be ELYK his name spelled backwards in like a script. so what designs should i look at for this im thinking of like a 1/4 sleeve or on my chest if that helps, any links to pictures would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Daniel asks…

Boyfriend wants me to design one of his tattoos?

He is slowly filling up a sleeve and told me he wants me to add something to it that means something to me but i’m totally stumped… I need ideas to get me started on the sketch. I know no one can tell me the right thing but I have no idea. Weve been best friends for years and have been through a lot. It could be any smybols/quotes or anything to do with forever, regret, faithful/loyalty, love, new start even a matching tattoo but I’m really not sure about that one. Just give me some ideas! thank you very much and please don’t nag me about it. It’s not your life and it’s not even my body it’s technically his decision and it’s not like he’s getting my name.

The Expert answers:

Well, if he wants something that means something to you, then really it has to come from you.

When you know what it is we can help you tweak the design but it really needs to come from you

Lisa asks…

What would be the best tattoo to get for my grandparents? *short*?

So my grandmother is in the hospital dieing, and my grandfather isn’t doing well either.
My grandpa was in world war 2 and he was on a ship that got bombed.
My grandmothers favorite flower is a rose so i was thinking an anchor and a rose intertwined some how with their names then get the R.I.P added in later when they both pass or just get the simple anchor and rose.

I would also like their names somehow sneakily placed in the tattoo.
any ideas where i should get it or any other ideas?? (:

Also where can i get tattoo designs drawn besides at the tattoo place?

The Expert answers:

Instead of RIP I would put the last 2 didgets of the years they were born. So when you look at it your not remembering their pain and suffering but instead of how these wonderful people came into the world and accomplished all these things. That they lived.

What are some good inspirational words for a wrist tattoo?

I have a star with swirlys coming out of it on my wrist and i want to add a inspiational word above it. any ideas?

The Expert answers:

Whatever words that are inspirational to YOU. People that tell you what tattoo’s are meaningful can speak only from their point of view. What makes you feel strong when you see it, what makes you want to drudge through the dark times, what makes you want to live your life?

Ken asks…

Good words for a wrist tattoo?

okay so tommorow i’m getting a tattoo BUT it’s only temporary (for about a month or so). Anyways i’m getting it on the “inside” of my wrist and it’s going to be in arabic. I was wondering was i should get. Maybe a small saying. or just cool words (like freedom or peace but cooler). Since it’s in another language the meaning won’t matter much, but i still want something decent. =P

thanks!

P.S… things i like: old rock and roll bands, new punk bands, basketball, skateboarding, funny stuff. =P

The Expert answers:

It should say a freckle past a hair, inside of a clock, that would be funny, but somewhat embaressing… @:-)

Richard asks…

wrist tattoo, which word both have meaning?

okay so before anyone says i shouldnt have to ask people what to get that i should know. i already do know i would get either. both words have meaning to me but i can only get one on my wrist. the words are :

– unbreakable… which to me is no matter how much someone or something in my life may hurt me i will never let them break me down to nothing.

and the other is.

believe…this one means alot also, to believe i have the strength, courage, confidence. beleive that theres good in everyone, and believe that it is possible to trust someone (i have trust issues)

i had a friend that cut herself, and i could understand why she did it. and ive thought of it but never brought my self to it bc i know deep down thats not the answer to solving problems. so another meaning for me behind believe ->that no matter what life throws at me theres a brighter side and that cutting isnt the asnwer. but unbreakable also becuase ive never been broken down to that point and am trying to never get to that.

which word do you think is better.
okay im looking to get one of the words tatttooed on my wrist. idk why people are sending hair and beauty tips.?

The Expert answers:

I don’t know, i feel like both are kind of cliched. I like unbreakable a little better than believe, though, as that reminds me of tinkerbell etc.

What font is this as his tattoo?

http://www4.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/Sydney+FC+Grand+Final+Celebrations+mVM-wt0U3Xjl.jpg

I didnt really know how to phrase that, but what im trying to ask is what font is the text on the guy’s back that says ‘Sydney till i die’ ? I’ve been looking for ages, and i think there’s two different fonts so if you could help me that would be great.

Thanks!

The Expert answers:

The Sydney looks like Olde English with a little bit of cursive. The till i die looks that way too. His tattoo artist might have drawn that out that font for him meaning u might not find it on the internet

Mark asks…

different language for tattoo?

my boyfriend is wanting to get a tattoo with my name. the problem is that my name is sissy. my real name is sissy. he dont want that in normal font bc he dont want ne one thinking he is a sissy. i sugested another lag. the problem is we dont no ne other laguage that sissy could look nice as….can sum one suggest or show me examples of another lag. to try?

The Expert answers:

Do it in Hebrew. It won’t look like any thing anybody has ever seen. And it is sort of a rebel thing to do because Jews don’t believe in tattoos. Sorry I don’t have that language font to show you what it would look like, but I guarantee nobody would be able to translate it unless they spoke Hebrew.

Charles asks…

Are numbered tattoos on the backs women symbolic for them being sex slaves to organiztions such as illuminati?

I’ve seen these numbers in a certain font but always the same on many different women, usually located on the back shoulder blades and starting to wonder if these women are simply sex slaves. Also each different women I’ve seen to my knowledge have had different numbers such as maybe what sex slave they became. Many of these women I’ve seen are in things such as porn videos or what not. Also heard about sex slaves in the illuminati.

The Expert answers:

I somehow doubt it.

Ken asks…

What do you think of this font for my tattoo?

Before anybody says anything, I know that this should be a decision made solely by me. It will be, but at the same time, I don’t want most people to dislike it.

With that said, I will be getting a tattoo on my wrist that reads “strength”, like this: http://min.us/lhrSo . I’ve been looking around for different font ideas (I don’t want a tattoo identical to someone else) and found this one that I’m partial to: http://min.us/lcqJy

What do you guys think? Thanks in advance! 😀

Tattoo from a broken home?

My mum has been through two messy marriges and i was caught up in it all, with two abusive fathers. I wanted a tattoo to symbolise me leaving this part of my life in the past. I have been thinking for some time and i recently came up with the idea of getting the phrase ‘We are all innocent’. I want to get this as i wanted to make the statement that children caught up in messy divorces are innocent victims but i want to get it some private like my thigh. Are there any websites that allow you to try out different fonts so i can find the right style for my tattoo?
Also if anyone else will design it for me, email me @ paige212@yahoo.co.uk

Robert asks…

Can someone refer me to a tattoo artist for a full-back tattoo, who is GREAT with detail. OHIO?

I want an all black tattoo, with detailed shading. I do not want any mediocre referrals, only the best!
NO SMART-ASS comments. Thanks, but they are lame, and VERY un-useful.
Anybody with a moronic answer will be blocked, as I am tired of wasting my time reading the B.S. answers those people give just to earn “points”.
SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY!!!!!!!!!!!

The Expert answers:

Steve at Evolved in Columbus. He has trained heavily in the Japanese-style and is quite skilled.

Michael asks…

Can you add light colored details to a dark tattoo?

color change tattoo

The Expert answers:

Depends on the tattoo and how it is shaded in the first place. Usually no. Sometimes a little but it is all usually done at once or the artist will shade it in a way that the hilites are easily added. If you are trying to go back and do something that was not originally part of the tattoo design or general idea it may not work. Just go to an artist and have them look at it.

David asks…

How can i become a Tattoo Artist?

I live in NJ and I’m looking to become a tattoo artist. Details please. What do I need and how do I get it?

The Expert answers:

I’ll correct Jan it is Kat Von Dee,
She does Portrait style tattoos and is the owner of LA Ink which is a show and parlor.

What you want is an apprenticeship but it doesn’t come easy I was lucky that I had connections through the art industry and grew up as a pin up girl and major ink fan.
I was a receptionist for about 6months before I became an apprentice so it isn’t an instant transaction you can’t just go up and ask them most the time you have to earn it and really pay attention so create a friendship with them as you will be learning off them for about 1-5 years depending on how many hours you are there and if you practice I was lucky and only was a apprentice for about 15months but that’s because I was self taught before I got a apprenticeship.

You MUST draw heaps! I remember when I was 13 and got my advice off a tattoo artist “Trace over and over again until you get the flow of doing it freehand”.
To become a tattoo artist you must have a steady hand and be an artist, I really need more detail about your art background to know how much you know about this industry. I recommend sticking to your style but also learning about others because every person that walks into a shop wants a different style you just have to put your touch to it, I’ve had to tattoo some bad places and silly things in my day but aye whatever floats their boat.

Put all your good art pieces into a portfolio to show a tattoo artist to get feedback,
Keep your reference material with it as well to show how much you were able to change that picture if you traced partial things. Once you have a portfolio set its time to ask local tattoo shops about your art and see if they are interested in giving you a go.

I recommend going to tattoo exhibition not only does it teach you and inspire you so many things you get to interact with other tattoo artists and get to view their portfolios if they have one at there area. I always meet tattoo artists when I go and for some reason they now look up to me but when I first started I thought they were kings and I was so shy to even approach them.

There’s heaps more for you to know but the best you can do is go up to the tattoo parlors near your area and ask questions like What do you expect in a portfolio? How do I improve my skills? And other things.

(Learn how to do some watercolor as well it really does help understand the shading and blending of tattoos)

Best of luck, after learning more about the tattoo gun, needles and machines play around on fake skin it helps you a lot and when your ready tattoo someone.

Linda asks…

How detailed can tattoos be and how is the cost of a tattoo determined?

how detailed can tattoos be?
And how is the cost determined?
Is it by the size of the tattoo, the time it takes, or what?
Please help.

The Expert answers:

Tattoos can have a lot of detail in them. But it can be hard to fit a lot of detail into a smallish tattoo. Cost is usually determined by the size or length of time it’s going to take to tattoo, it can also be determined by if you want colour or black and grey ink. Cost varies from shop to shop so have a look at what you want done, take your ideas to a few shops in your area, have a look through some portfolios and have an artist give you an estimate.

Your Questions About Tattoos

Daniel asks…

What do you think…?

About this tattoo idea I have?

It’s a small one in cursive font on my wrist. It would say “Leb’ Die Sekunde” which is “Live Every Second” in German.

It has profound meaning to me, so I just thought I’d throw it out here to get some views on it, and maybe some new ideas for it! ^_^
By the way, I already have a tattoo on my hip, so I’m confident I can deal with the pain.

And I’m set on this tattoo, so before anyone says “You shouldn’t get it if you have to ask!!” I’m just seeing what people think about it! (:

The Expert answers:

OMG.
Hell yea u should get it!

I really want to have the Tokio Hotel symbol on my wrist, but that’s out of the question with my mom.

Would you have by the length or width of the wrist?
I think having it by the width would look better, since it would be small.
And you should have it look kinda like Bills except like a miniature version.

Mary asks…

Strawberry Tattoo + wordings…any opinions/pics/advice?

My father passed away suddenly 2 weeks ago. I had been inkling to get another tattoo (my first was on the back of the neck)…and the location of my 2nd tattoo would be near my ribs/breast height, but more towards my back (sort of underarm…if i close my arm it will be right behind it) Is there a name for this location?

I would like a simple, perhaps cursive font for Dad. In front of Dad i would like a strawberry..perhaps more ‘cartoony’ than a realistic strawberry. i dont want it to to be big…but i dont want to lose any detail if it is too small.

Any recommendations of strawberries (pics) and the name/font which you think might be suitable.

Thank you.
i like the idea of combining a strawberry/heart

The Expert answers:

You might like some of these, they’re more cartoonist
http://www.tattoojohnny.com/search/strawberry

Joseph asks…

Should i get this tattoo?

My idea tattoo quotes Miley Cyrus “Theres no guarantee this life is easy” on my ribs with an elegant cursive font I would like more opinions on this.

-quote is from the song when i look at you sung by Miley Cyrus
– i am a girl
– has a lot of meaning to me
– i want it to be horizontal and on the side of my ribs next to my heart (left)

The meaning behind this:
I have been living my whole life with a disease called Cystic Fibrosis. It effects the lungs making mucus more thicker. there is no cure so far but we are very close to finding it. I fortunately do not have it as bad as some people but still its a struggling disease. But any time i get sick i have to fight, because i can end up in the hospital, some people with the disease have to indore hospitalization for months on in. Now when i was in the hospital about 9 to 10 months ago, Miley Cyrus’ song came out “when i look at you” and most of the song relates to me and my disease. Hearing the song made me realize life’s no long ride and mistakes cant be changed quote “there is no guarantee this life is easy”. Also another thing that reached out to me was Miley had a friends that sadly died to Cystic Fibrosis
ALL OPINIONS A VERY MUCH APPRECIATED !(:

The Expert answers:

If it means so much and is so significant then do it. You are obviously a fighter, and facing hardship in your life. It dosen’t sound like you will end up regretting it

(I’m heavily tattooed, no regrets)

Go for it, and good luck

William asks…

What do you think of this tattoo idea?

I was thinking of getting on my left wrist “When I see your face, There’s not a thing that I would change.” not exactly in the wrist area, it might go down a little, and of course it won’t be very big font. and on the right “Because your amazing, just the way you are. And when you smile, the whole world stops and stares for a while.” But that might be longer? anyway I can even them out? I really want the “and when you smile, the whole world stops and stares for a while” part, but I have no clue how to even them out, and I want them on my wrists, small font, in cursive.
@rabie what are you talking about? i was just asking how i would even it out, and asking peoples opinion? you don’t know me, so stfu.

The Expert answers:

Try these =) i made them lool

Betty asks…

Is this cute as far as roman numerals go?

I want a roman numeral tattoo, but every time I draw XVII on my skin, it always looks like a prison tattoo or something, haha (no offense, it just looks way masculine and out-of-place on me!).

I have tried dressing it up with cursive font, etc., but I could never find anything I liked!

So I was doodling on my hand just barely and drew xvii, with the i’s dotted with hearts. I think it is so cute and is terribly fitting, because the number represents both the day my uncle died and my mom’s birthday.

I’m going to get it on the outside of my right wrist in navy blue, about 1″ tall and 1.5″ long.
(Side note: about how much will that cost, and how much should I tip for it?)

Cute idea? Yes? No?
Too bad, I’m getting it anyway.

The Expert answers:

I think if you’re gonna put girly hearts on it, you might want to consider putting it in a place where you can hide it. Depending on the social situation, what job you get, who you’re meeting, etc. You may not want it to be so visible…

Okay, I know labeling is bad and I am very aware that I am just my own unique person. But I’m just curious, so don’t take this question too seriously. Plus, since I dress so strange, a lot of my classmates often ask me stupid questions like “are you goth?” and I hate giving them a one word answer…but no one really wants to sit through my explanation.
So, to start off, I’m 16 years old and female. I usually don’t wear makeup and when i do it’s just mascara, maybe a little bit of eyeliner, and lipstick or temporary tip tattoos. I’m very pale and when I paint my nails it’s usually black or purple, but sometimes i’ll use glow-in-the-dark colors. My wardrobe consists of a lot of military and victorian inspired clothing, I usually carry my stuff in a fanny pack, and the accessories I usually wear are gloves, goggles, chokers, necklaces, cuffs, chains, watches (pocket watches, watches on rings, I even have a top hat with a clock on it), lots of bracelets, and rings. I also wear dread falls occasionally if you consider that an accessory. I wear bondage pants, obnoxious tights, a variety of skirts (sometimes tutu’s, sometimes skirts that go past my knees) but sometimes plain jeans, and also skinny jeans with designs on them.
As for lifestyle, I sit at home a lot. I usually only get out of my house three times a week not counting school and I’m not ashamed of that and it’s not because I’m lazy either. I’m pretty good with computers and like video games. I watch a lot of anime and read some manga. I also enjoy writing my own stories and designing manga characters of my own. I draw my characters myself and I think I’m a pretty good artist. Every once in a while I like to make weird crafts. I mostly make decor for my room and decorate my clothes. My friends are all Otaku and my best friend is a self proclaimed “cyberpunk”. I view most of my other friends as mild steampunk or scene. I also have a few preppy friends, too and it doesn’t bother me that they aren’t “dark” like me but sometimes I think it bothers them that I am.
Anyways…I listen to a big variety of genres. Really, the only music I absolutely can’t stand is rap. If I had to pick a favorite genre it would have to be symphonic metal – bands like Nightwish and Within Temptation. As far as other media goes, I’m not big into watching TV or movies, but I do enjoy myths. And I mean ORIGINAL myths, not that butchered, modern stuff. I don’t read much though, but when I do I love fantasy, sci-fi, and some historical.
So, now that I’ve written a lot…what do you think I am? If you had to pick one subculture (steampunk, cyberpunk or cybergoth, scene, goth, or something else?) thanks

The Expert answers:

I would say you are kind of a mix of steampunk and goth. Also, you sound like a really awesome person.

How can she cover up a tattoo for a wedding

My future sis-in-law has a hideous tattoo (that’s her word to describe it, not mine, I think it’s pretty cool) about half-way between her elbow and shoulder bone going almost all the way up to her shoulder. Her wedding gown is strapless ans we’re trying to find a way to cover it up without long gloves or a jacket. Tried makeup, but we could still see it. Besides, if she sweats at all it could just run off. Anyone have any ideas?

The Expert answers:

I would contact a makeup store like M.A.C. Or even a Physician’s Formula counter at a local department store. There are heavy-duty, waterproof coverup/concealers (like Dermablend) that people with really bad scarring use and I’m sure they could help you locate a great one, and more than likely would apply it first to see if it works before you bought it, so it wouldn’t cost anything if it didn’t work. Good Luck!

Ruth asks…

I am getting some ideas together and so is my artist, but I want to have different things to choose from… thanks

He has a lot of ideas, but I want to really make sure it is what I want, not just something there..THANKS

The Expert answers:

Yeah i’m sure i could come up with something you would LOVE! But not by this afternoon sorry!

But on a real human to human level you should really think about what you are getting on y our body before you put it on you make sure you ask and really be objective if you will like what your getting on yourself!
You seem like your doing this just to do it! That’s cool but in 20 years are you going to feel the same!
I have 2 tats! I love them to peices!
I have 1 home made tat wanted to see if it hurt and if i could do it! Well it’s still on my hip and it looks like crap. Now i’m trying to find something to cover it up in a sweet me way… I tell you it has not surfaced i have to figure in if i have a baby what will it look like and other factors so i really think you should sit down and figure out how you want it to look like! Not just go in wanting one!
But i will say get one they are sweet!

Ken asks…

do you confront a person when their tattoo is inaccurate?

like sparrow and swallow tattoos mean 2 different things
sparrows mean freedom
and swallows mean loyalty as well as a safe return home
both very different birds, a friend was like
“look at my sparrow tattoo” and it was a swallow, and it said
“freedom” under it, so its defiantly meant to be a sparrow, should i tell her?

i also met a girl who found out after she got a tattoo her “love” in Japanese, meant nothing at all, it wasn’t even a real word ( she was confronted by someone about it) and she said shes happier knowing its wrong, cause now she can get it fixed

do u think its ok to tell someone thats not right or thats spelled wrong in such and such language…. its a pretty tattoo, but its just not the right thing
should i tell her?
im just asking dont make me look like an ass
if i wanted something and was given something else id be pretty upset, and want to know
im obviously asking how other ppl feel so i havent said anything yet
at least if she knows its not a sparrow she can say look at my swallow tattoo
i like to hear the truth from ppl personally
i asked cause i know not everyone does
i wont say anything then

The Expert answers:

Well, I personally wouldn’t corrrect people. I’ve had someone attempt to correct one of my tattoos. They explained that the kanji I have on my wrist doesn’t actually mean anything. I smiled politely, and explained to them that it is, in fact, not kanji, but is a band logo, and is a stylized GH. They felt like an idiot after that, I’m sure. So while you think you might be doing them a favor, you might just be making yourself look dumb. Now, if they ask you, and you’re sure that you know the truth, you are definitely obligated to inform them of that, and a simple “Yeah, that is actually _____, and it means _____.” will do, but unless they ask, I’d tell you just to let it be.

John asks…

Tattoo Placement HELP!!?

I want to get a latin phrase tattooed and was wondering where it would look the best. I just want simple, elegant lettering, no fillagry or anything. I was thinking up the side of my abdomen. Any suggestions? Im pretty tolerant of pain, but want a spot that can be covered the majority of the time, due to my job. Anything but the lower back.

The Expert answers:

If I were you, I would definitely go for a gentle curved writing on the upper back, not too far below the neck. Aesthetically, I think this could be much more pleasing, and if you did want to show it off at some point outside of work, it would be quite possible. Vale!

Betty asks…

I’m designing my tattoo but I can’t finish until I figure out the placement. Any ideas?

I’m planning to get the phrases “Love as thou wilt” and “All knowledge is worth having” tattooed in french with a rose before the first phrase and a sun at the end of the last phrase.

As stated, any ideas on placement? I don’t want on arms and legs if that helps any. Lol

The Expert answers:

Picturing what i think your tattoo would look like, i think it would look good on your lower back or back of the neck, or maybe on your shoulder, in small print and it going down verticly and then the next phrase beside it also going down verticly.

Hope i helped : ]

Tattoo Placement?

I want a tattoo of a blue phoenix. Under neath i wanted a latin phrase. The phoenix will prob take a few sitting, seeing as how i want it in full color and very intricate. But being my first tattoo, i want to get the phrase first, and the phoenix later. And i need a spot on my body that can be covered the majority of the time. Though i wanted the two together before, i dont mind if the phrase and the phoenix are seperat. I was thinking about between my shoulder blades for the phoenix and the letters either up or around my side. Any suggestions on the placement? Esp. places that lettering looks attractive.

The Expert answers:

This is a suggestion. I was in the same predicament because of my job and wanted a place for my tattoo that wouldn’t offend anyone but wanted it to be seen when I wasn’t working so I opted for my shoulder toward the back. It’s covered when I wear short sleeves but exposed when I wear a tank top. (It’s a crescent moon with stars, pretty colors although it’s sort of fading after 20 years).

Need Help with Tattoo Placement?

This would be my first Tattoo and was wondering where a good place for it would be. The Tattoo I want is the word phrase “veritas aequitas”.
veritas aequitas means Truth Justice and it is on the movie Boondock Saints. I just believe they are powerful words and people should stay true to them.

The Expert answers:

I LOVE that movie!!

What if you got “veritas” down the back of your left arm, and “aequitas” down the back of your right arm?

As in, if you were standing in front of me in line at McDonald’s, and you had on a short-sleeved shirt, I would see the bottoms of the words going vertically on the backs of your arms above your elbows.

Robert asks…

Tattoo placement ideas?

I’m getting a new tattoo soon, and need to decide on a placement. I’m gonna give vague details, so I’ll simply say that it is a short latin phrase. I’m thinking of getting a fancy font with a bit of pin-striping around it. The back isn’t an option as I’ve got a large one on my right shoulder blade already. I was thinking maybe the inside of my left fore arm, but am looking for other possibilities.

The Expert answers:

I just got “Sapere Aude” on the inside of my left forearm.
